Not everyone who was named Alexander was a bad person. Almost everyone who choose this name for himself was tho.
Alexander von Humboldt is one of my favorites examples of Alexander’s going the real path.
Yes, he was a lucky person. He was born in a noble and rich family, he had the best schooling opportunities there were to have in his country. His country counted to the most developed in the World back then and still now. Part of that is his merit too. As a boy he was asked during a visit by his King Friedrich Wilhelm II, if he wants to conquer the world like his namesake Alexander of Macedon. He answered: “Yes, but with the head.”
Alexander was in his youth along with his brother in Paris as the French revolution broke out. He admired the humanist part of that but condemned the ugly parts. This was one of the things that influenced him ever since.
He lived contemporaneous to Simon Bolivar, Thomas Jefferson, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Charles Darwin, Napoleon to name a few names of his time. He met all this people and with some of them he had long time correspondence.
He traveled the world at a time those places were uncharted and undiscovered. 4 years in South America and Simon Bolivar called him the true discoverer of South America. Travels through the French and Spanish parts on North America and Thomas Jefferson on who’s behalf he cartographed this regions named him “the most scientific person of the age “.
Back home he published every single bit of acquired knowledge in for normal people understandable form. He hold lectures everyone could attend and understand.
He is the founder of a scientific method named after him and is the father of modern ecology including the insight that humans have the power and do change the climate!

At lifetime he was one of the most famous persons , a superstar!
God favored this one: he lived almost 90 years!! up to his last moments he was a driven person talking fluid many languages , an lecturing his visitors, explaining, referring to books and enchanting those who were lucky to know and meet him.
His legacy for humanity is immeasurable.
